Penthouse Marea

A duplex above the marina with an 80 m² roof terrace the street never sees

Sleeps 63 bedrooms3 bathrooms210 m²Licence VFT/MA/00000

Penthouse Marea takes the top two floors of a building one row back from the Puerto Banús marina. Downstairs is for sleeping and cooking; upstairs is the point — an 80 m² roof terrace with a plunge-pool jacuzzi, an outdoor shower, a dining table for six and the masts of the marina laid out below. You can walk to the beach in four minutes, the front line of the port in two, and El Corte Inglés in five, then come back up six floors to a terrace where the loudest thing is the rigging in the wind. Three bedrooms sleep six; there is a parking space in the basement.

The lower floor is open-plan: a kitchen with induction hob, oven, dishwasher and a coffee machine that gets used hard, a dining table for six, and a sitting room with doors onto a covered terrace facing the marina. All three bedrooms are on this floor, away from the staircase, each with its own bathroom. The main bedroom looks over the marina to the sea; the other two face the quieter inland side.

An internal staircase leads up to the roof. The terrace is fully private — nothing overlooks it — with a heated plunge-pool jacuzzi that fits four, a pergola-shaded dining area, two sun loungers, an outdoor shower and a drinks fridge. Sunset lands directly on it. This is where most guests spend most of their stay.

Honesty about the location: Puerto Banús at street level is loud on summer nights, and that is exactly why people come. Six floors up, with the bedrooms on the inland side and double glazing throughout, the noise reads as a distant hum rather than a problem — our reviews back this up. If you want silence at midnight in August, book a villa in the hills; if you want to walk home from dinner in five minutes, this is the better trade.

Stayzia manages this apartment directly. Our local team handles every arrival in person, trusted housekeepers look after it year round, and a guest manager is on WhatsApp throughout your stay. The basement parking space is included — worth more than it sounds in this postcode.

Where you are

Puerto Banús is the marina José Banús opened in 1970, and it has spent five decades being exactly what it set out to be: the loudest, glossiest square kilometre on the Spanish coast. Superyachts moor metres from the front-line restaurants, the shop signs read Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and the Lamborghini-per-capita ratio is a running local joke. It is easy to mock and genuinely fun to stay in, provided you know what you are signing up for. Beyond the front line there is a real resort here — a full-size El Corte Inglés department store, beaches on both sides of the port (Levante to the east, Playa del Duque to the west), and the seafront paths that link you to San Pedro one way and the Golden Mile the other. Holiday apartments in Puerto Banús put you inside the action rather than commuting to it, which transforms the experience: you walk home from dinner, you swim before the crowds arrive, and the taxi line is somebody else's problem. Our apartment here, Penthouse Marea, looks over the marina from a top floor — close enough to feel the buzz, high enough to shut the door on it.

We ate breakfast on the roof every morning and barely used the restaurants downstairs at lunch. The jacuzzi was warm by the time we got up. Two minutes to the marina is not an exaggeration — we timed it.

Came for a long weekend with two other couples. Walked everywhere, never took the car out of the garage after day one. The bedrooms on the back are properly quiet even on Saturday night, which surprised us.

The terrace is the best outdoor space we have had in Spain, full stop. Late July you do hear the port until 2 or 3am with the terrace doors open — closed, nothing. Knock that hour off and it would be five stars.

Llevé a mis padres y a mi hermana. El ascensor hasta la puerta y el aparcamiento en el sótano lo hicieron todo fácil. La terraza al atardecer, con el puerto encendiéndose abajo, es lo que recordamos.
